News - Influenza H1N1(Swine Flu) info. from the Ministry and our Superintendent.
If you think your child has HlN1
Protecting Your Child from H1N1
Talking to kids About H1N1 (formerly known as Swine Flu)

We have a hand sanitizer available close to the office doors for parents and visitors. Please use it when entering and leaving the school. The best way to prevent flus and colds is by conscientious hand washing and keeping children who are sneezing and coughing at home so that the germs are not passed on to others. Hopefully, the H1N1 flu will not hit our school but we will have to be vigilant. Our custodians are being extra diligent about cleaning door knobs, telephones, etc - wherever little hands touch, in an effort to keep the "bugs" at bay. Hutton's absentee rate remains below 10%and we have not had any confirmed cases of H1N1 reported. We truly appreciate the fact that our parents are keeping their children home if they have any signs of illness - this is a big help in our fight against colds and flu at school.

News- Grade 6 Immunization schedules have been received.
Immunization # 1 will be given on Wednesday, October 7th after lunch.
Immunization # 2 will be given on Thursday, December 10th after lunch
Immunization # 3 will be given on May 19th.
The Health Unit needs a few parents to help - call them at 443-3150 if you can be there to offer a helping hand.

News -Hutton StrongStart Centre has new hours. Our StrongStart Centre is now open 4 days a week - Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 am - Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30 pm and Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. The new start times will coincide more closely with school hours and hopefully help parents who have school and preschool age children. StrongStart is open to all children who are 5 and under (until they begin Kindergarten). The children enjoy playing with other children, playing in our gym, and using the library to find a special book. A parent or caregiver must accompany the child. Phone 250-442-8275 for more information or drop by and speak to our coordinator, Brenda Plotnikoff.

News - Popcorn sales will once again resume on Wednesdays (thanks to our Primary classes and their volunteer parents). Our first popcorn day is Wednesday, September 16th. This year we have had to increase the cost of a bag of popcorn to $1.00 because of rising costs for popcorn, the bags and shipping. This is our first increase in price in over 15 years!!

News - Volunteer driver requirements have changed for this year - a minimum of $2,000,000 liability is required before the School District's policy will come into effect if there is an accident while driving children. All drivers are asked to obtain a new driver's abstract in September or before the first field trip. See the office for further information.
