News - We all hope you had a great summer and welcome you back to John A. Hutton Elementary for the 2010 - 2011 school year!!
School begins on September 7th - half day - 8:30 - 11:30 - with school busses running accordingly. School bus schedules are in last weeks' Advertiser or on this web page. School is in attendance on Friday, September10th. The office will be open the week of August 30th - 7:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Class lists will be posted by September 2nd in the classroom windows adjoining the office.

News - This will be our first year of enjoying all day kindergarten. September 7th and 8th are reserved for teacher/child/parent interviews. We will have a staggered beginning to school for Kindergarten students to ease the transition. On September 9th and 10th Kindergarten students will attend mornings only - 8:30 - 11:25 and on September 13th and 14th they will attend afternoons only 12:25 - 3:20. On September 15th, Kindergarten students will begin their whole day kindergarten classes. Welcome to Hutton!!
News - School pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, September 28th. Our photographers are Mountain West Studios. Our photographs are taken on the proof system which means that you receive two pictures of your child to choose from and a variety of backgrounds and packages. Retakes are available on October 20th for those students who missed their picture day or whose parents are not satisfied with their picture or pose.
News - Early dismissal for Parent Teacher Interviews takes place on Tuesday, September 28th and 29th. Dismissal is at 2:05 (beginning of recess). Busses will run one hour earlier than usual. More information will be coming home shortly.
News- Thank you to all our parents who volunteer their time to help make our school function - your help is always appreciated!! We particularly need help with our Breakfast program from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. and with assembling our Hot Lunch orders - approximately once per month. IF you can offer your help, please call our school secretary, Doreen Sorensen, at 250-442-8275.
News Our StrongStart Centre is open 4 days a week - Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 am - Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30 pm and Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. StrongStart is open to all children who are 5 and under (until they begin Kindergarten). The children enjoy playing with other children, playing in our gym, and using the library to find a special book. A parent or caregiver must accompany the child. News-Volunteer driver requirements: a minimum of $2,000,000 liability is required before the School District's policy will come into effect if there is an accident while driving children. All drivers are asked to obtain a new driver's abstract in September or before the first field trip. See the office for further information.
