News - Purdy's Chocolates Gift Catalogues will be arriving at the school next week and will be coming home soon after. Purdy's are always a favourite, especially at Christmas. Keep a watch out so that you can make someone a little happier this Christmas. This is a PAC sponsored fundraiser for our school.

News- Hutton's Annual Book Fair will take place on Tuesday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 25th - 6:00 - 8:00 pm in John A. Hutton's gym. We will also be open before school on Thursday, November 26th. Santa will be visiting us for photos with Kerry on Tuesday, November 24th ONLY. Come on out and get a photo with Santa for just $5.00 and pick up some great books - always a super idea for stocking stuffers.

News - Our Annual Christmas Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15th beginning at 6:30 p.m. Practices are already underway and we are sure this will be our "Best Christmas Concert Ever"!! Our theme this year is Peace and Goodwill to all. Please remember that admittance to the concert is a donation to the Grand Forks Food Bank. Our community has been very generous in past years and we are hoping for more of the same this year. Let's demonstrate Hutton's famous "goodwill".

News - Influenza H1N1(Swine Flu) info. from the Ministry and our Superintendent.
If you think your child has HlN1
Protecting Your Child from H1N1
Talking to kids About H1N1 (formerly known as Swine Flu)

We have a hand sanitizer available close to the office doors for parents and visitors. Please use it when entering and leaving the school. The best way to prevent flus and colds is by conscientious hand washing and keeping children who are sneezing and coughing at home so that the germs are not passed on to others. Hopefully, the H1N1 flu will not hit our school but we will have to be vigilant. Our custodians are being extra diligent about cleaning door knobs, telephones, etc - wherever little hands touch, in an effort to keep the "bugs" at bay. Hutton's absentee rate remains below 10%and we have not had any confirmed cases of H1N1 reported. We truly appreciate the fact that our parents are keeping their children home if they have any signs of illness - this is a big help in our fight against colds and flu at school.

News -Hutton StrongStart Centre has new hours. Our StrongStart Centre is now open 4 days a week - Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 am - Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30 pm and Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. The new start times will coincide more closely with school hours and hopefully help parents who have school and preschool age children. StrongStart is open to all children who are 5 and under (until they begin Kindergarten). The children enjoy playing with other children, playing in our gym, and using the library to find a special book. A parent or caregiver must accompany the child. Phone 250-442-8275 for more information or drop by and speak to our coordinator, Brenda Plotnikoff.

News - Popcorn sales will once again resume on Wednesdays (thanks to our Primary classes and their volunteer parents). Our first popcorn day is Wednesday, September 16th. This year we have had to increase the cost of a bag of popcorn to $1.00 because of rising costs for popcorn, the bags and shipping. This is our first increase in price in over 15 years!!

Pizza days will again be each Thursday beginning in September and run through till the end of May, 2010. Volunteers are needed to assemble the orders - if you can help just call Doreen Sorensen in the office at 250-442-8275. She would appreciate the help!! Watch for the first order form to come home early in September.

News - Volunteer driver requirements have changed for this year - a minimum of $2,000,000 liability is required before the School District's policy will come into effect if there is an accident while driving children. All drivers are asked to obtain a new driver's abstract in September or before the first field trip. See the office for further information.
