LOST AND FOUND- The Lost and Found has been put out on tables by the library/office hallway. Please come and check to see if your child has left any of their clothes at school. Any unclaimed articles of clothing will be going to the Thrift Store.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT - Perley PAC is hosting a"Family Fun Night" on Tuesday, February 23rd from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Many volunteers are needed to run this event! If you are able to help, in any way, please return the parent volunteer form that has gone home. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!
CITIZENSHIP AWARDS - Citizenship awards for the month of January were given to: Anna Semenoff, Raeden Rougeau, Joe Horkoff, Kolton Spurrell and Anthony Scow. These are students who did a "good deed" at Perley School.
EVOLUTION OF LEARNING - The Board of Education would like to invite all parents and community members to a presentation and conversation regarding the new K-9 Curriculum. The meeting will be held at Perley School, on Monday, February 29th at

READY, SET, LEARN - Bring your preschool children to Perley Elementary for a free session of Ready, Set, Learn on Tuesday, March 8th at 10:00-11:30 am. See attached poster for me details.
BASKETBALL - Intermediate basketball has started with Mr. Chapman coaching the Grade 6/7 boys and Mr. Mace coaching the Grade 6/7 girls. Mr. MacLean, Ms. Sidwell and Ms. Sorba will be coaching the Grade 4/5 girls and boys. Games will be posted once they are set. The practice schedule is as follows:
Grade 6/7 boys - Wednesday at lunch
Grade 6/7 girls - Thursday at lunch
Grade 4/5 boys/girls - Tuesday at lunch
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - It is that time of year to register your child for Kindergarten. If your child will be five years of age on or before December 31, 2016, they are eligible to start Kindergarten in September 2016. Please come to the school office to register and bring your child's Birth Certificate and Care Card.
BREAKFAST PROGRAM - We are looking for volunteers to help with our Breakfast Program. If you can help one or two hours from 7:30 to 8:30 making toast and cutting up fruit, please call Jaime at 442-8756, or the school office.
PASSPORT TO THE KOOTENAYS - The Perley PAC is once again selling the Passport to the Kootenays books. These books are $45.00 each and can be used all over the Boundary and Kootenays. There are hundreds of coupons for restaurants, shops, hotels, golfing, skiing etc. - these books make excellent gifts! These books can be purchased at the school office. STUDENT ABSENCES - We ask parents to please call the school when students are going to be absent at 250-442-2135. If calling before office hours please leave a message. Thank you for your assistance.
UP-TO-DATE CONTACT INFORMATION - Please make sure that the school has your proper contact information. If you have moved, changed your phone number or your family circumstances have changed, please let the school know, as this is important information to have on file in case of an emergency.
VOLUNTEERS - Thank you for volunteering in your child's classroom, or around the school. However, in keeping with district policy and in order to keep our students safe, we must ask those who are assisting in the school with our students to obtain a Criminal Record Check. Criminal Record Checks can now be obtained online free of charge. Please come to the school office for more information.
COLOURED SCHOOL BUSES - The District school buses will now display specific colours for each route. The colour bars will be displayed immediately to the rear of the entrance door and under the first passenger window. The colours are as follows:

HEAD LICE - Please check your child's hair on a weekly basis, and if necessary on a daily basis, for head lice. Click here to get to Interior Health's website for information on how to check and treat head lice. There are also some great videos on youtube on head lice.
.PERLEY STRONGSTART at the Glanville Family Centre - StrongStart is a free program and available to children not yet eligible for Kindergarten. A parent or care provider must be in attendance. AIR QUALITY ALERT - If our school receives an Air Quality Alert, parents can request that their children remain indoors on those days. The school will declare these days "in-door choice days" for students. Contact your child's classroom teacher if you have any particular requests for your child on these days.
SCHOOL GROWTH PLAN - At Perley this year we are focusing on trying to reduce the anxiety some students have at school. It is difficult to focus on learning when students are anxious or struggling emotionally, so we are working as a staff with several programs and strategies to help more students feel regulated and happy at school.
BUS PERMISSION SLIPS - A reminder to parents that if their child will be riding a different bus or getting off at a different stop, other than their assigned stop, the Office must receive a note from a parent or guardian with full details. The Office Administration will complete a "Bus Permission" slip for the student to give to the bus driver for that particular day.
