FAMILY FUN NIGHT - The Perley Family Fun Night is going to be held on Tuesday, February 26th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Thank you too all the parents who have volunteered. This is shaping up to be a great night.
PAC MEETING - The next PAC meeting is Monday, February 18th at 6:00 in the Perley Library. Please feel free to come out and attend a meeting.
STUDENT SAFETY - We will continue to be locking our outside doors during instructional time. Student safety is paramount and the Perley staff feel that due to our location on the highway, and due to a few incidents (stolen bikes) we need to keep our doors locked during the day. This is a very common practice in many schools around the province.
At 8:30 we will lock the exterior doors except for the front door at the office. We have always asked visitors to report to the office and this will make that easier. The doors will be open from 8:00 – 8:30 to allow you to pop in and touch base with your child’s teacher. We will open the doors after school to allow for this as well.
We do not want to impact your ability to touch base with your child’s teacher, we simply want to focus on student safety. As always, if you have any questions, please call the office. Thanks in advance!
Our morning routine will remain the same with the east (gym) door being open so children can come in and have some breakfast and the rest of the exterior doors will be open at 8:00. If your child walks to school, we ask that they arrive no earlier than 8:00 am (if possible) as we have limited supervision until then each morning. If your child is riding a bike to school, please ensure they lock them up.
NUT/PEANUT AWARE- We have several students with life-threatening nut and peanut allergies in the school. As such, we ask parents to please send nut-free lunches/snacks for their children. Thank you for helping keep our students safe.
.PERLEY PAC EXECUTIVE:

UP-TO-DATE CONTACT INFORMATION - Please make sure that the school has your proper contact information. If you have moved, changed your phone number or your family circumstances have changed, please let the school know, as this is important information to have on file in case of an emergency.
PAC FUNDRAISER - PLEASE KEEP BUYING GIFT CARDS - If you shop at Save-On-Foods buy a gift card to purchase your items and our Perley PAC receives 5% of the gift card. Just say the gift card purchase is for the Perley PAC - what a great way to help Perley School raise money!!
STUDENT ABSENCES - We ask parents to please call the school when students are going to be absent at 250-442-2135. If calling before office hours please leave a message on the answering machine. Thank you for your assistance.
VOLUNTEERS - Thank you for volunteering in your child's classroom, or around the school. However, in keeping with district policy and in order to keep our students safe, we must ask those who are assisting in the school with our students to obtain a Criminal Record Check. Criminal Record Checks can now be obtained online free of charge. Please see Sharon at the school office for more information.
COLOURED SCHOOL BUSES - The District school buses will now display specific colours for each route. The colour bars will be displayed immediately to the rear of the entrance door and under the first passenger window. The colours are as follows:

AIR QUALITY ALERT - If our school receives an Air Quality Alert, parents can request that their children remain indoors on those days. The school will declare these days "in-door choice days" for students. Contact your child's classroom teacher if you have any particular requests for your child on these days.
BUS PERMISSION SLIPS - A reminder to parents that if their child will be riding a different bus or getting off at a different stop, other than their assigned stop, the Office must receive a note from a parent or guardian with full details. The Office Administration will complete a "Bus Permission" slip for the student to give to the bus driver for that particular day.
