Report an Accessibility Barrier

At SD 51, we want to learn about specific barriers that people face when they are trying to:

  • Access a school program, building or school information
  • Receive a service or support

Your responses to the questions below will be reviewed by SD 51 Accessibility Committee for their consideration. This information can be submitted anonymously, or you can provide your contact details at the bottom of this form if you wish to be contacted.

Accessibility Committee

In 2019 the Provincial Government consulted with the Accessibility Legislation Consultation Advisory Committee and concluded that Accessibility plans would be made in education and employment settings in British Columbia. This led to the development of Accessibility Act Committees in every school district in BC. The Committee’s job is to identify barriers and make a plan on how to remove and prevent them. The Committee includes 5 – 9 members picked by the Superintendent of Schools or District Principal of Student Services. Each committee must include at least one member who identifies as having Indigenous ancestry and half the committee will include: people with children or youth in SD 51 with current or emergent considerations related to disability and accessibility; and/or people who work or volunteer for SD 51; and/or people with disabilities; and/or people or organizations that support people with disabilities.
